Intelligent On-Board Bus Passenger Information Displays
Traditional LCD-based Passenger Information systems have based on an of-the shelf vehicle PC with LCD displays attached to it using VGA or HDMI cables and repeaters. This architecture is not optimal, and has several challenges and limitations. The Dragontech PID-Series intelligent PIS-displays enable the creation of distributed network-connected intelligent HD resolution PID-systems, which do not necessarily require a host vehicle PC for the media delivery and storage. Display information is not sent throughout the vehicle, but rather each PID-display manages its own content delivery based on location information, or other control data received from the vehicle.
In a complete scenario, a DCORE DR01 or DURION DR01 MIMO 5G gateway router can be used as the primary gateway and PIS system controller. DRM displays connect to one of the downstream Ethernet ports. The router's application process manages the chain of DRMD-based on location or other controls.
A power-efficient 6-core 64-bit low power ARM processor with advanced LINUX firmware controls the operation of the PID, and the delivery of rich media content including animations, effects, static images, as well as HD-video combined with operational data. No dedicated host PIS server is required. Media is stored in each device, and can be updated over the backbone Ethernet. The software is LINUX based, empowering integrators to use QT for graphical design, and compile their QT application to work on all PID-series displays. Such development toolchains and open SW platforms accelerate project completion, and enables system integrators to independently maintain their applications.
The Dragontech PID-series displays connect directly to the 12 or 24VDC vehcile battery with ignition key sensing. When ignition is activated, the system microcontroller wakes up the main LINUX application processor in a controlled manner. A proprietary multi-stage active protection and filtering circuitry is designed to exceed the requirements of EMC and immunity standards.
Dragontech Systems can provide customization services, which can include engineering, production and certification. Available are various LCD sizes and aspect ratios, mechanical solutions, as well as project specific functionalities or SW interfaces to other onboard systems.
